Rebirth for iPhone almost 2 weeks in

So, almost a week since the release of Rebirth for the iPhone and what do we think? I know that opinion has been quite polarized about this app and how the interface has been structured, but after almost a fortnight how do you feel about it now?

I was playing with it last night and I'm getting a lot more used to it.

The interface is pretty awful and the 303 emulation has been bettered. If you want a 'live' 303 to tweak then technoBox is the way forward.

However, there's not a great deal else on the iPhone that's as powerful in terms of sequencing & automation. You can actually write a track from start to finish in ReBirth.

I would buy it for 1.99 max.
Doesn't seem worth it to me.

the graphics don't scale very well when zoomed in so i wonder what it will be like on the ipad. Can sound pretty good i think, but its pretty fiddly! in fairness, i loved the old rebirth and think that this is an occasion where the mouse input simply wins over touch, or maybe my fingers are too big!

Not so keen on the graphics quality

I've worked with ReBirth on PC for a while now, and I'm used to using keyboard shortcuts (and a MIDI controller) to expedite things. I absolutely LOVE RB for iPhone, but I simply can't see using it in a live setting like I currently do. Shame too, because I REALLY want to ditch my laptop for live performances.

Oh yeah, and the buttons are too small.

I love it. I'd love it even more at a native res on an iPad, but that's probably because it would mean I had an iPad :o)

I love the sound, love its quirks and love the way you program it.

I also own Technobox and Bassline too.

i never used the computer version so, re birth on the iphone is all new to me. TBH, i love it. yes, its fiddly to navigate and the graphics aren't the best but for something so powerful in ya phone ya cant wacxk it.

i too have technobox which i find easier to navigate.

I'll echo what others have said about technoBox still being the best available 303 groovebox app, but ReBirth isn't bad. Yes, the graphics don't come out well, and it's a bit frustrating to scroll around the screen. But it's still a fun little pick-up-and-play app. Difficult to get into it enough to make a whole track out of things, but fun to lay down a couple patterns and tweak out. $6.99 doesn't seem so unreasonable for that.

I'm looking forward to a version optimized for the iPad. I'm tired of poking tiny buttons and straining my vision with so many of the music apps on my iPod touch.

I had great fun at an outdoor café, putting together a few patterns, getting my groove on, while other patrons thought I might be a bit nuts, or on blow or something! Yeah, a bit daft, but oh-so 1999 cool!
