Every now and then I start to think that mobile music is getting really mainstream, then I see something like these graphs from a post at MacRumors and realise that there is still a long way to go!
I guess that only a few years ago if you'd been able to produce stats like this then mobile music wouldn't have been on the PDA / Handheld / Smartphone map at all, so this is progress right?

I think a more pertinent question is "how many musicians who own mobile devices are using them as creative tools?". Unfortunately, that's also a much more difficult question to ask from a data-gathering perspective.
Surprise! The world is not entirely populated by musician :)
