I hadn't checked for a while, but it seems that there's now two versions of Layers for the iPad. A standard and a pro edition. The pro edition allows you to email a layered PSD file out of your work as well as giving you additional layer tools and more layers to work with.
For a pro edition it isn't badly priced either, so worth checking out both to see what's right for you.
