It's a bit of a mystery about what goes on in the review process. I suspect that Apple run it through a set of automated tests and then hand-pick certain areas to test manually, but that's only a guess. This update only took 3 days to approve, but the previous one took just over two weeks.
I'm sure BM2 will be just around the corner now. I remember my first submission and the most nerve racking thing is that there's no real feedback about its progress - just a light that goes either red or (more hopefully) green at the end!
The first version of NanoStudio spent about a week at 'waiting for review' status and then was 'in review' for about 4 hours. There was no way that any major functionality could have been tested in that time aside from verifying that it starts up on different devices and (probably) didn't crash. Unless maybe it was being reviewed for some of the time that its status read 'waiting' ...
Blip - thanks for the update! I don't have a SS25 yet, but these features are really tempting me. Damn man, I sincerely hope akai is giving you some $$$ because if it wasn't for NS, the synthstation would be dead in the water. Seriously...

If Apple rejects a binary it can take substantially longer to get something reviewed. New products take longer to approve than updates.
