So where is BeatMaker 2?

I seem to remember Intua talking about a summer launch for BeatMaker 2 and then following up with an iPad version, but where are they? Even 1 would be good, but no signs as yet.

Anyone know more? I did have a poke around the Intua forum but didn't find much new there except people asking this question too.

Beatmaker is the priciest app I've purchased (it was 19.99$ then), I thought it could play sounds in loops but I was wrong (I was also led to believe it could at the time). I made a request on their forums, many people said "yeah that would be great", but Intua never answered until very recently when they said BM2 would have a loop option, but you would need to buy Beatmaker again to have this function.

I'm considering buying NanoStudio (I played with the Windows version and I liked it a lot).. Beatmaker2,... hmm not so much (unless its much cheaper and really awesome).

I reckon they got hit by Nanostudio's release, then realised that they really were going to have to pull the rabbit out of the hat this time, and have gone back to the drawing board?!

Sound likely?

I must say that I was really disappointed with Beatmaker 1 anyway. It always took yonks to load and was pretty poor in the sequencer dept. I couldn't for instance get notes to release once I had released a key. I raised this with them, but never got an answer. Shame.

I bet they literally went back to the drawing board after Nanostudio came out. That app makes everything else look like a little bitch. BM2 is gonna be embarrassing if they don't completely re-write it as a direct competitor to Nano.

Lots of hype from Intua and nothing to show for it so far except for a few screenshots. Granted, they have another month till summer's over, but I won't be surprised if nothing's released by then.

Intua has also been extremely hostile toward any mention of NanoStudio on their forum. They routinely delete posts. It's quite sad. Most of the regular posters over there are unfriendly as well. Quite the opposite at the NS forum, where people trade tips and techniques and the dev is highly active.

Maybe BeatMaker 2 will come out soon and be amazing, but I really have no interest in supporting Intua or trying to be a part of their user community.

I have to agree with Sleep's comments. The Intua forum is full of apologists for the company's utter lack of customer support and communication. Someone brings up a valid point or question and without fail someone else posts to say to say how they should be more grateful or patient. What is the point of a forum like that?
Nanostudio's support and communication really puts Intua to shame, especially considering it's one guy compared to a team of coders.

Sheesh. So Amidio aren't the only dev to routinely delete forum users posts which are in any way critical of their brand. I'd been considering Beatmaker as a possible purchase, but regardless of how great their products are I really don't want to line the pockets of a dev that thinks nothing of censoring their customers opinions. No thank very much Beatmaker and Amidio. Thoroughly agree that NS rocks, on both the product and customer care fronts. Also delighted with the newly updated Cue Play DJ.

I gave up on Intua recently. I got tired of getting my posts deleted and dealing with the horrible forum. At this point in time I could care-less about BM2. I had bought BM when it first came out and I was regular poster helping users with the tech problems while intua sat back racking in the profits.

With an update or two, Nanostudio is really going to be an amazing piece of software. I love it as, but I feel good knowing the DEV wants to make it better and that he cares about his users/customers/community.

Yeah, i hope BM2 will be good - it looks good, and if they could fix their existing bad usability (so many screens to navigate just to change 1 parameter!) then they might be on to something.

However, i totally agree that their community is wack: their regular forum posters are jerks with little talent and hardly any audio tech knowledge. This coupled with Intua's arrogance and "we'll only post updates when the forum looks to jump ship" attitude means i am much more looking forward to Blip Interactive's progress.

Great software and nice vibes :)

quite interesting to read these comments and see how quickly the public sway from one product to another. To be honest, it sounds like its entirely Intua's fault.

I can understand all your comments about forum posts being deleted when they refer to NanoStudio, that's just not on in my book.

Personally I only remove comments when they're spam or personally abusive. Aside from that comments or forum posts are always valid in my book.

It wouldn't surprise me if Intua had taken a look at NanoStudio and decided they needed a re-think. Perhaps that'll be a good thing.

I still hope that they do something really good with BM2, but as to when, that's anyone's guess.

Hi,

We understand the wait for BeatMaker 2 can be frustrating, we're sorry about it and we are making every possible effort to deliver it as the great product it is expected to be.

As for the complaints about our forums, although we haven't always been very active in the past, we're trying to take good care of it now. We delete posts that are insulting, out of subject or that are only part of flame wars, but we do not want to censor anything (as an example there are many posts that praise NanoStudio on our forums and we did not remove them). We've also been following all the discussions and many of them helped us shape BeatMaker 2.

We're doing our best to improve all these aspects, and we're sorry again for the BM2 wait.

Thank you,
Intua Team

Come on Intua, we're being critical but many of us want you to succeed because that can only mean good things for us mobile music makers. But once again, you've made another post without telling us what we really want to know. And once again, as many people on your forums have pointed out, you only make a response when people mention NS positively and/or BM negatively. When is it coming, how far along are you?
