Akai announce their SDK is now available for developers. Excellent news. Now if we could just actually get hold of the hardware! I thought I'd combine this with my regular weekly check up on whether any of these three retailers actually have the device as yet.
DolphinMusic in the UK still has the Akai SynthStation listed as being available within 7-10 days. The price quoteed is still £79.99.
Musician's Friend in the US still has the Akai SynthStation25 listed as available from the 28th of September now! They have it priced at $99.
And lastly Music123 also have the Akai SynthStation25 as available from the 28th of September at $99.
So, looks like the the SynthStation is doing nothing but go backwards at the moment. Personally I am seriously beginning to doubt that this thing will ever see the light of day now.
Whilst they did get the SynthStation app out and now are offering the SDK, will developers want to incorporate it without actually seeing the hardware for real, and is Line6's MIDI Mobilizer more of an option at the moment simply because it actually exists!
I hope that Akai can rescue this situation as even though this thing hasn't surfaced as yet it still seems to be a great idea. Although I seem to remember a similar keyboard from Ion at the same time and I've heard nothing about that either.

Ion is just another brand of the same company.
