It's the same model as mine which is a behringer mxb1002 (man am I a geeky gear spotter!) It is indeed battery powered and can run of one 9v pp3 battery, or you can run it of 2 pp3s if you wish to have phantom power running...albeit at 18v rather than the standard 48v...shouldn't damage mics in any way just may not power some fussier mics.
