I thought I'd share this post at Gadgetlab that got picked up by Make on why Arduino is such a hit over more powerful boards like beagleboard. Makes for interesting reading.
Personally, whilst I've never used a beagleboard I've always found arduino great fun to use and very easy to get started with. One day I hope to do something musical with my arduino. When I do, you'll know!
