A dream maybe, the reality is still very far away

Marcus from MusicApps posted this picture and I thought that I should post it here as even though his mock up is a dream it would appear that the actual Akai SynthStation isn't much less of a dream at the moment!
Since it came out I haven't used the SynthStation app very much at all as I'm still waiting on the hardware.

The realy is closer than you think, you just have to look on the opposite direction of Apple and build it.

You can buy a touchscreen and a cheap keyboard for less than what the ipad costs and you can use it with any existing host like Cubase, and use any plugins.

Why wait and feel envious?...

Good point, but my DIY skills suck even worse than my soldering!

IFAIK the iPad should work with USB compilant keyboards. I guess AKAI is using this and some API to interface with the iPhone.

@Palm Sounds

You don't even need DIY skills!

Just a touch screen, like the 10inch mimo (260$)

A usb/midi keyboard (which you probably already have)

and a computer (which you mostly already have). A laptop with a broken screen would be perfect.

No soldering required :)

I'm really thinking about getting one of those cheap touch monitors. Writing in a grid/piano roll on my lap must be fun.
