A few slightly retro items today. I'll start with an old Zoom PS-04. I used to have one of these ages ago. I know that for lots of people you'll be using iPhone apps like FourTrack or MultiTrack DAW, but sometimes hardware is what you really want.
Staying with that theme here's a Korg Pandora starting out at only £0.99! Which is about as low as you can go, and odd as this one is on at £50 and this one is £199. Always amazes me how people price things on eBay.
Next a Kaossilator bag. Handy.
Next another Zoom. This time a Zoom PS-02. I never owned one of these, but a friend did and always thought it was great.
More recording gear, a Tascam DP-008 for £199 which is cheap for the UK, but not the US.

What I don't get why electronic musicians have any use for a multi-track apps(4-Track, et al)on Apple devices. I mean, the "line-in" options are SO limited (w/ a few EXPENSIVE solutions on the way, I find apps like 4-Track to be useless. Even w/ AudioCopy / Paste, my brain aches at the prospect of trying to properly sync up loops / tracks from other apps into 4-Track.
It makes sense for the acoustic artist (acoustic guitar / vocals / drum kit), but for someone who is using other apps (or external devices)to create their sound, multi-track apps seem unusable.
What am I missing, people?
You make a good point, and it is being discussed by a lot of developers.
I'm hopeful that there will be a way to get around this whole line out / line in issue soon.
I gotta bite on this... while sometimes (most of the time, in my case) you just need hardware, you NEVER need a ZOOM ps-04. Its built like a toy keyboard from CVS, and its user interface is unbearable. I swear I used to actually believe that the menu system on the LCD rearranged itself once a week just to screw with me. Oh.... and the LCD? Give it about 3 months before it starts to become unreadable.
I will say this though... it has some incredibly digital amp modeling for guitar and bass which is actually not terrible considering how old and small this thing is, and the fact that it runs on batteries. Having said that, I'm sure a Line 6 pod, or one of these iphone guitar interfaces and modelers would probably be more worth your while if you're actually the kind of person who needs to take it to 11 on the go.
So, yeah... I hate that machine.
Wow, legsmechanical, understand your views. I don't think I ever had the issues with the screen, but yes I take the point on the menu system.
I think that most hardware with a tiny lcd interface will struggle to be usable. On my Boss Micro BR I still get lost and forget what goes where, and I think that's quite well designed.
Thanks for the comment.
That's exactly what makes the DP-008 so damn sweet. Tactile awesomeness.
Plus, the layout of all those dedicated knobs is almost identical to the old PortaStudios, so it's like riding a bike for me.
