When my main device was my old Treo 650 I used to use iziBasic and viziBasic a lot to make little apps and experiment with ideas. It was great fun to play with, and I even released a handful of free Palm OS apps on using it. Nothing amazing you understand. Of course, since the demise of the old Palm OS these two haven't been kept up to date, which is completely understandable, but still a shame. I miss that kind of tinkering and haven't really found anything comparable on iOS as yet. Maybe something will come up.

You should try the AppInventor for Android. It's exactly the type of tinkering and trying some fun little things. It supports MIDI sounds and samples, good for some simple and funny little apps...
