Playing with Halcyon
I took some time to play with this app yesterday as I haven't had a chance to get to it for a while. I have to start off by saying that I'm not a big game player at all, but I do really get into some games.
I wrote about this app when it came out as it was from Zach Gage maker of the excellent SynthPond and Sonic Wire Sculptor, so I started using with great expectations.
If you know it is from the maker of Sonic Wire Sculptor and SynthPond you'll recognise a lot of elements of the design. It looks great.
The game play itself is very simple and straightforward although I didn't get bored of it, which is what often happens with me and games, so for personally I thought that this was a big plus. I'm not saying that I couldn't put the app down, but it was an enjoyable experience to play with. I didn't use the openFeint features of the app as I don't have an account with them, so I can't comment on that side of it I'm afraid.
If you're looking for a fast paced game with loads of action then steer well clear of this app. However, if what you want is something a lot more thoughtful, simple and relaxing than I think you might want to give this a try.
I've enjoyed it a lot.
Halcyon priced at $3.99.
