Macrumors has posted that the latest dev copy of the iPhone firmware (3.0) will support up to 11 pages of apps. That's 180 apps. A small step foward if nothing else.
I think that's possibly going to make things worse. Whilst it would be nice to have more of the apps I bought or downloaded on my iPod, I already struggle to find them on the 9 pages and have found myself ignoring some apps I used to use a lot when they were categorised into folders during my time as a jailbreaker.

I know what you mean. They need to address the whole app organisation issue properly, not just make it worse.
