Yesterday I posted on the MiniVLTone iPhone app appearing on the app store. Well I've had a little bit of a play with it now, and here's what I think.
Firstly, this is a great idea. I like the fact that these developers have brought a VL-Tone simulation to the iPhone, and why not? But, it isn't complete. They admit that there are a bunch of functions that aren't there as yet. Here's the list:
- A calculator
- Recording mode
- One-key-play
- LCD display
- ADSR envelope programming
However, the upside is that it also does not require four AA-batteries!
I'd love it if they could add in the features above, that would be brilliant, and if at all possible, why not be able to export to Beatmaker, or .wav files so you could use those excellent rhythms elsewhere? Having said all that, I do think it is worth the £0.59 ($0.99) as it is, and it is a fun app anyway. Well done to the developers.
I'd say it is worth a go just for the nostalgia value alone.
