I know that lots of people have upgraded, but developers are telling us that are still problems and I think that's true, so where next? Is Apple working on fixing any of this stuff?
It'd be good to know more. If you have information please comment it in or let me know some way.
I think it's one big mess. Someone needs to grow a pair and get it sorted out.
ReplyDeleteAll Midi implementation needs to be looked at and standardized across the board. I've been using music apps from the start and you would think somebody, somewhere, by now would make my life easier as a musician to simplify the process of apps talking to each other, I'm talking about Midi, virtual Midi, Midi clock and any other way apps communicate with each other. Yes, we have Audiobus but I have to say it's still all a little bit clunky and doesn't deliver to me a viable working user experience. There are now so many apps with Audiobus the combinations are amazing and truly wonderful but I have so many bomb outs and hangs and "WTF just happened there? moments, I find it all too unreliable. I admire the Audiobus team for trying to do something about bringing together those amazing apps and I'm sure they are as frustrated as me by the whole mess, but hey.........we now have IAA!! the saviour of IOS music What is it? How do you use it? who knows, I don't think Apple know at the moment.
Being on the bleeding edge using music apps is as rewarding as it is frustrating. I truly admire the developers of these amazing musical apps. I just wish they would all talk to each other and agree a way to move things on so I don't have to spend hours wondering why this or that doesn't work. I don't want to read a fucking manual, I want to create music.....It's still about the music, isn't it?
Wow, that's a rant. MIDI works fine stop whining. Learn how how to use it, and IAA. Reading a little is not a bad thing. It's not perfect, but with a modern device I find it very productive and creative. Apparently ymmv.
ReplyDeleteSince iOS7, Audiobus no longer works on my Ipad Mini. IAA attempts to work but crashes every time. This is from a fresh boot with no other apps running - iPad Mini is less than a year old and already Apple are forcing me to upgrade or pack in.
ReplyDeleteI bought an Akai EIE for my iPad 2 about a month and a half ago, worked beautiful until I updated to ios7; now they flatly refuse to communicate... I fear there will be no fix available for this, thanks Apple...
