Thanks to everyone who's commented in or posted to the news form on the new IO dock not being iPad 2 compatible. Apparently you have to ask Alesis for an adapter! I don't know if they're charging for this or not but it sounds a little bit short sighted of them.
Let's hope it gets resolved soon.
If you know more please get in touch.
Would anyone know if that adapter is free? (guess it should be - would be a bit of a liberty to be penalised for having the newest gear :P)
ReplyDeleteSo these things aren't vapourware after all? Are they back on sale again? In the UK or Europe?
ReplyDeletewould like to hear more user experiences with this. strongly considering buying one...

Sounds promising
Dan Radin (@danovation) responded on Twitter that the adapters are free and that they have a shipment enroute from the factory for mid-July availability.
ReplyDeleteI posted the Sweetwater review (posted it here first, but dunno if I did it right). Still haven't found out if it will work with the Akai EWI USB wind controller, I suspect the Alesis USB port would have to be powered. Even if that doesn't work, it's still a winner for me!
ReplyDeleteJust got mine from Sweetwater and got the ugly adaptor surprise. There's the url for a webform that you use to request your adaptor, requesting the usual name and address stuff as well as the serial number.
ReplyDeleteCalled my great Sweetwater rep TJ and Alesis both to suggest that the advertising needs to reflect the adaptor situation instead of just saying that it's iPad2 compatible. I don't think there will be much movement on that though. The Alesis folks say THEY will get them in mid July, and then it may take a few additional weeks for them to arrive to users. But, the "second wave" of the manufacturing of the dock will ship with the adaptors inside. I guess the rest of us are just early adopters with late adaptors.
To be totally clear, our team has been prepped to ship out iPad 2 adapters to people who've submitted the request form THE DAY we receive them. We completely get that having to wait ANOTHER two weeks is painful and we are doing our best to make it right. - Dan Radin, Alesis
