Well, this may be off topic, but I have an iPad 1 and DID just get GarageBand, which is wrapped around the iPad 2 launch.
Holy Smokes!! This single $5 app just replaced about half of the music apps I have on my iPad. Simply amazing!! Finally great instrument sounds, mixing, MIDI recording, AND audio recording bundled up slick as a whistle.
