A 400$ ipad2. Even with all its shortcomings (because it will have many) it would surely piss-off the competition, which never managed to offer similar products for the same price or less (except ASUS and the EEE Touch and maybe a few others).
People who have made tablets for the past 10 years, yeah I'm talking to you Motion Computing/Tablet Kiosks/Eurocom/HP/Dell and other tablet makers, where are your sub-500$ products?
I'm guessing garageband will work on original ipad since I didn't see "ipad2 only" mentioned. As for imovie I really don't know. It seems like a move apple would make for it to be ipad2 only because of the cameras.
I bet the iMovie editing will work on either ipad. You would just have to put the video on the older pad. I would presume that you might shoot it on your phone and send it over to you ipad for easier editing. I did some iMovie editing on my phone this summer and it we tight work at that size.
I hope garageband works on the iPhone 4 I did not hear them say universal app.
Looks like the new imovie will not support ipad v1 (that seems dumb to me, but I wasn't going to buy it anyway, so.. *shrug*), but garageband will be supported on ipad v1: http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/02/tidbits-ipad-2-mic-no-ios-4-3-for-cdma-iphone-imovie-and-garageband-compatibility/
Thunderbolt!
