Interview: Khush CEO Prerna Gupta Talks LaDiDa Reverse Karaoke, Success, and Apple’s 30 Percent

To be honest I haven't used LaDiDa in ages. In many ways I don't think it is a product aimed at me, but reading about it again has given me a few ideas for using it in different ways.

Anyway, it is an interesting interview from Evolver.fm.

  1. I'm sorry man ... that picture forces me to digress.

  2. Yes, unfortunately the developers are most definitely playing upon the charms of that lovely lady. I haven't seen a photo or video from them that doesn't prominently display her ample assets (take your pick). Still....

I just purchased the app and sang a silly little thing off the top of my head about the fact that it's snowing again the the northeastern part of the US. What the app spat back at me was remarkably good.

In a strange way, I think that using that woman in their PR put me off purchasing their app. I'm sorry I waited because this app has lots of very interesting potential.

  5. I suspect there is a certain amount of commercial potential in marketing the app as a toy - perhaps autotuning a baby or pet to make a funny youtube video or something to laugh at with your friends. As for making original music, I'm not so sure. The app fits your own vocals around its limited built-in melodies and while it sounds remarkable the first time you hear it, it rapidly loses its charm the second third and fourth time you do it.

  6. (just joking disclamer)Sadly, some of you sound like a bunch of male chovinists: the beautyful lady appears to be the company's CEO... Shame on you. Well, that also sadly doesn't prevent her to use her charms as a sale argument or to be excessively proud of them as the pictures on top of her self dedicated website shows... Makes me wonder if the world really is a choice between sexism and ladys justifying it... (Just joking disclamer again, never sure enough)

  7. Well ... I bought the app but it wasn't because of the sex appeal :) although she is quite attractive. I'm going to use it to make short vocal loops to import into isequence and nanostudio .... certainly not for me to make a song ... even this app couldn't help my singing that much.

  8. The area of vocal enhancement must be the biggest untapped potential for mobile music. I want an app that I can bleat into and out comes the sound of Ronnie James Dio, Seal or Joe Cocker.
