iPhone App Directory

No Max, no Reaktor

I was just thinking, we've seen an app for Max, albeit a controller, and we have Pd on the iPhone thanks to RJDJ, but nothing from NI on Reaktor?

It somewhat confuses me that companies like Native Instruments and Cycling 74 don't make tools to create native mobile apps for a range of platforms. Surely it is a natural next step?

I know I'm biased on this, but so many companies are heading in this direction.

Perhaps the iPad will make it more tempting option?

  1. Cycling74 is STILL a vanishingly small company, and is very careful about straying from their core competency. And they've supported OSC since forever, meaning they're able to leverage any OSC app for iPhone/iPad.

Reaktor supports OSC and people are already using iPhones for Reaktor control. Again someone made an executive decision about revenue vs outlay and decided against jumping into iPhone apps directly.
