When software vanishes

When I was writing the post yesterday on software for older Palm units I realised that there were a bunch of applications that I simply can't trace anymore. It is a shame, but understandable.

So I was wondering what appetite there was for a sort of museum of old software applications irrespective of platform that could serve as a way of finding old apps that have vanished off the internet.

Also, if you have any old software that is no longer available anywhere else and you'd like it preserved (for as long I can keep it going that is), then get in touch.

  1. I just got my Sony Clies the other day and you are right, tracking down the older software is a pain! Not just for music applications, but also for device specific utilities. I spent 3hrs alone tracking down the free version of the Compact Flash drivers for the nx70. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my OS4 device.

  2. I used to be a bit of a palm nut-- what apps are you looking for? I used to save them all locally, and I may still have them.
