Thanks to Gee for pointing this out. It has some great features such as:
- 21 Instruments
- 128 Track Sequencer
- Real time effects
- Export to wave
- MIDI export coming soon
At £11.99 it isn't cheap, but it looks great, almost like having Garageband on the iPhone, so I'm going to wipe out my app budget and get it now.
I'll post back something soon when I've stopped playing with it.
What a shame that there is no synthesis section :(
ReplyDeleteNice to see that there are different time sigs available though :D
the sequencer itself is pretty killer, time signatures, piano roll, and more. but it is lacking in good sounds, imo. not much tweaking, and the sounds provided just arent't that good. If the dev can squeeze in a sampler, a better drum machine, and some better synth sounds i'll be really pleased with this.
ReplyDeleteFor now, though it's just a great sequencer and UI with mediocre sounds available to it.
I totally agree. Shame.
ReplyDeleteI also agree. Imagine this with synthesis and sampling and you have a truly amazing app. The petition starts here! I feel bad criticizing it because of the obvious attention to detail and the excellent sequencer - but the pre-rolled instrument options aren't doing it for me...
ReplyDeleteReal-time pitch-based MIDI recording while playing back other tracks?
ReplyDeleteThis could be a good melodic sketchpad, but I'm still hoping for a keyboard in BeatMaker.
I'll check back on this when they implement MIDI export.
Looking at the app description, it mentions that wifi is used to transfer stuff. Is the app worth it as just a sequencer for loops?
ReplyDeleteLooks great. Does it have automation like Beatmaker?
ReplyDeleteThis to me looks like something closer to what I've been hoping for in an IPhone music composition app.
ReplyDeleteI really like ISyn alot but it's a bit limited in terms of capabilities.
As a musical sketchpad, Xewton may be just the ticket. Having said this, I agree with all the previous comments regarding the addition of built synthesis.
Wow
ReplyDeleteGotta try this
ReplyDeleteBe good to have some proper synthesis
ReplyDeleteWhy not have an in app store to add synths and drums etc
ReplyDeleteLike to see some more instruments
ReplyDeleteOh yeah and synthesis options
ReplyDeleteAnd vocal tracks?
ReplyDeleteI wish Xewton developers had their own forums, or are reading this blog post!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Being able to sample your own sounds and synth would be AWESOME. Its a great app as it that could be gold with a few updates.
I'd also like to be able control volume dynamically to achieve crescendos and such. Even a simple fade-in/out feature.
I look foward to the first update.
More Instruments too please!
Doesn't seem to be a way to communicate with them easily about a wishlist
ReplyDeleteExpensive isn't it
ReplyDeleteNot a bad start, but needs more
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant. A few more like this would be excellent.
