iPhone App Directory

What is a fair price?

Since the app store launched I've been watching the price ranges for applications to see where most apps come out. BeatMaker was £11.99 (and worth it). The majority of apps seem to range between GBP £0.59 and £5.99.

As far as I can see that's quite reasonable, and of course I'm not saying that for something really special I wouldn't pay more, but what do you think would justify, £30, £40, £50 or even more?

Well, given how much I paid for Griff, but how happy I am with it, I guess Griff for iPod would take £20-£30 of my money any day. I bought Beatmaker, but to be honest I've been a little disappointed in it for the money - maybe I'm just doing it wrong? I also bought BtBx and that is much more fun/productive for me. I really hope they update it with some more synthesis options.

Some of the OSC control apps are fantastic at the moment. I've got them all I think - Mrmr, Oscemote and my current favourite, Touch OSC.

The £0.59 - £2.00 range apps are sort of a no-brainer, but there is still a whole load of garbage being released that isn't worth anything at all.

The only thing i find frustrating is the inability to try-before-you-buy, especially with something as costly as Beatmaker. The reviews and videos wowed me more than the product.

  2. I know what you mean about Griff, along with all the plugins I must have spent over £100!

I also know what you mean about Beatmaker.
