Well, lets get started and work out a proper name for this, something that describes apps collaborating over MIDI and doesn't infringe any existing trademarks.
Comment your name ideas in and when we have enough we'll run a poll on them to see what comes out top.

Please note that anything containing MIDI is probably impossible to use for us since it's probably protected by trademark law.
I think perhaps Rolf and/or Sebastian should get eternal credit in the name...like explorers get to have their name embodied into planetary bodies or rare species of frog.

I like MIDI-Link or App-Link that Burg mentioned.

Or if they decide to follow all the suggestions in the document, maybe just call it "Manifesto". :)
"Soundprism Pro 3 now adheres to the Manifesto MIDI standard, securing the most user-fiendly and advanced MIDI functionality of iOS apps and with exciting new features such as:..."
Or OMAC: "Open Music App Collaboration".
OMAC
sounds Good
OMAC sounds good and feels right.
OMAC gets my +1
Isn't OMAC the name of a cheap IMac knockoff?

Hmm.. how about "It just works!" lol
OMAC sounds a bit like "OSEX" (as in OSX!) lol!

I left the I out the first time for non musical projects
I think that the problem of a name is not so important.
What we want to do is send control information from controller apps to music generating apps e.g.
It has been known for ions that midi was not the best system to do this:
- 7 bits of resolution (127 steps) is not very accurat
- pitch glides by the pitch weel controller of 15 bits is allso a big BUG for touch controllers, who likt to glide over more than an octave or so
- 16 channels is no longer a luxury but a huge limit, certainly if many apps and many controllers are concerned.
Midi input and output shoul, in my opinion, be limited to communication with EXTERNAL (midi) controlers, to be able to use (old) synthesizers e.g.
INTERNALLY we should devellope a communication protocol that has more channels, an higher resolution for control values and for pitch wheel controls.
Don't be blinded by the small improvement that linking, by midi, of controllers and soundapps might give us.
Think wisely before we keep an outdated standard, do better.

I thought I recognized OMAC as an acronym. It's actually a well known Jack Kirby creation for DC comics. In it's original form, OMAC stood for "One Man Army Corps." It's a dystopian sci-fi story worth checking out if you like Kirby.
I'll take a swing at it myself:
MAPL: Music Application Protocol Link

How about MACI - Music App Collabrative Interface or
MADI - Music App Digital Interface?
Hi everybody,
I'm also interested in this project, although I don't know when I'll be able to implement it with my current activities...
Hopefully one day Apple will release some better inter-app communication method, so we shouldn't limit this protocol to the CoreMidi framework in advance by including it in its name. Also, the manifesto already covers background audio which has nothing to do with MIDI, so let's be general.
I was thinking about a catchy and meaningful name without hard-to-remember acronyms. It could be something like AppWire (after Tom's suggestion). It has little results on Google and I would even see the possibility to acquire the .org domain...
Oops! I've just found this
http://code.google.com/p/appwire/
Nothing new was invented, so "supports virtual midi ports" is fair enough. :)
I think Eric brings up some good points. MIDI is obsolete. It may do all of the things that you need it to do today, and really 7-bit resolution has never seemed that limiting, it will behove us all to be looking forward.
I liked OMAC, how about over CoreOSC?
How could forget a tribute to this wonderful blog...
