Lots of people are saying that it is too little too late, but I guess we'll have to see. To date I don't know of anyone planning to bring music software to their new platform, but I guess we'll have to wait a few months to see if that changes.
I also don't know if Windows Phone 7 is even a reasonable platform for music applications, so if any developers want to chip in with opinions I'd be glad to hear from you.
"too little too late"
ReplyDeleteThis is what was said of the iphone when it was launched, or the original XBOX...
I think Xbox, Live and Office integration plus Zune pass will make people want one, but it will probably not be interesting for the mobile softsynth crowd.
If a lot of people buys the phones, devs will be interested in doing apps for them (currently Apple has 2% of the total mobile phone market).
I think you're right about the mobile synth market, and as a segment I doubt it can be worth targeting from their perspective.
ReplyDeleteStill, let's see what it does and if there is a PDA or tablet version coming.
They really should do a PDA as well.. most pocket devices now are phones and you can't buy them unless you get a 3 years contract..
ReplyDeleteI miss the old-school palm :)
ABSOLUTELY!
ReplyDeleteI think that manufacturers are missing a massive trick.
I think that all these OS's should have PDA versions
